Our Story

Located on Allen Street in Buffalo.

First there was the Allen Street Hardware Store, a neighborhood fixture for over forty years. But times changed and it was time for Louise, Mary and Fred to make a change. The fabulous corner store with its tin ceiling and hardwood floor became available and recognizing the centrality of its corner location Mark and Charlie Goldman approached Mugali Ali, the owner of the building.

We had an idea, we told him. We wanted to create here a neighborhood pub, a place which the people of Allentown could make their own: a bar and grill modeled on the old school. Ali loved the idea and we quickly came to terms.

That was in 2004. Now, 17 years later, after several renewals and reinventions, Hardware is still here; still serving the people of the neighborhood and beyond in the casual, friendly fashion that everybody has come to know and love.
